Chris Haley, LMSW
Psychotherapist

A man in a navy blue suit, light blue shirt, glasses, and short hair, smiling at the camera with a blurred modern glass building background.

My name is Chris Haley. I help people better understand themselves, their relationships, and what gets in the way of feeling more grounded, confident, and satisfied in life. I’m a straightforward, compassionate, and nonjudgmental therapist who works to create a space where you can speak honestly, reflect openly, and make meaningful change.

Location

I’m based in Manhattan, New York City. I offer in-person therapy near Grand Central and Union Square, as well as virtual sessions for adults throughout New York State.

Who I work with

My practice has a particular focus on working with men, including professionals, creatives and performing artists, entrepreneurs, gay and bisexual men, and others navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, substance use, eating concerns, or questions around sex or identity.

Many of the men I work with appear successful on the outside but feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected in important areas of their lives. I also welcome women and adults of all genders facing similar challenges.

My practice has a particular focus on working with men, including professionals, creatives and performing artists, entrepreneurs, gay and bisexual men, and others navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, substance use, eating concerns, or questions around sex or identity.

Many of the men I work with are outwardly capable and responsible, but internally feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to change patterns that keep repeating. I also welcome women and adults of all genders facing similar challenges.

My approach

how to live, but to help you understand patterns that keep getting in your way and develop healthier, more sustainable ways of relating to yourself and others.

My approach is grounded in interpersonal and psychodynamic therapy, while also being flexible and practical. We may explore earlier experiences when they help us understand what is happening now, but therapy is not only about the past. Much of the work focuses on your current relationships, choices, emotions, and patterns as they unfold in the present.

I check in regularly to make sure therapy feels useful and that we’re moving in a direction that makes sense for you.

Professional background

Before becoming a therapist, I held senior management roles in the nonprofit sector. That experience continues to shape how I understand leadership, responsibility, pressure, burnout, and the tension between outward success and private struggle.

To provide the best care possible, I engage in ongoing supervision and continuing education to stay current with research, clinical practice, and emerging approaches to psychotherapy.
