Gain clarity. Strengthen relationships. Move forward.
Meet Chris
My name is Chris Haley. I help people gain clarity about themselves and their relationships, and address what gets in the way of feeling more grounded, confident, and satisfied in life. Many people I work with are successful on the outside but struggle internally with stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, or difficulties in their relationships. I have a particular focus on working with men, while also welcoming women facing similar challenges, including relationship concerns, life transitions, and emotional stress.
I’m a straightforward, nonjudgmental therapist who values honesty, curiosity, and practicality. My goal isn’t to pathologize you or tell you how to live, but to help you recognize patterns that no longer serve you and develop healthier, more sustainable ways of relating to yourself and others.
I’m based in Manhattan, New York City, and work with adults of all ages. I offer in-person therapy on Tuesdays near Grand Central and Thursdays near Union Square, as well as virtual sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays. I am licensed to see individuals residing in New York.
What is therapy like with Chris?
Therapy is a collaborative process. We’ll focus on what’s bringing you in now while also paying attention to longer-standing patterns—how you handle stress, relationships, emotions, and expectations placed on you by others or yourself. Together, we’ll work to understand how your past experiences show up in the present so you can respond differently going forward.
My approach is grounded in psychodynamic (psychoanalytic) psychotherapy, but I don’t believe in rigid methods or one-size-fits-all treatment. Depending on your needs, our work may draw from relational, somatic, mindfulness-based, and other therapeutic approaches. Some sessions may feel more exploratory, others more practical. I check in regularly to make sure therapy feels useful and that we’re moving in a direction that makes sense for you.
Therapy isn’t about quick fixes, but it should feel purposeful. Over time, many men notice increased clarity, improved relationships, greater emotional range, and a stronger sense of agency in their lives.
“Chris is an amazing therapist who managed to create a safe space for me to open up and feel supported in a judgement-free zone. Highly recommend him.” -B.C.
Who does Chris work with?
I specialize in working with men—including executives, professionals, artists, entrepreneurs, and others—navigating challenges such as stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship difficulties, and questions around sex or identity. I also welcome women facing similar challenges, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions.
I’m LGBTQ-affirming and particularly attuned to the experiences of gay and bi men. I provide a confidential, respectful space where you can speak openly without having to perform, minimize, or have everything figured out.
Many men are socialized to suppress emotions, push through stress, and avoid asking for help. Over time, this can take a real toll—emotionally, physically, and relationally. Therapy offers an opportunity to address these pressures directly and develop healthier, more sustainable ways of coping and connecting. Seeking help isn’t a weakness; it’s often a sign of self-respect and strength..

Therapy for Men
I specialize in working with men from diverse personal and professional backgrounds. Many men struggle with stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, and challenges in their relationships. Men are often socialized to hide feelings and push through difficulties, which can make these issues harder to recognize and address. Society tends to blame men for their struggles without considering context or root causes—the way society treats men. It doesn’t have to be this way. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You can still be a man and get the help you need. If you’re looking for a therapist who understands men’s issues, I invite you to contact me for a no-obligation consultation.
Therapy for Performing Artists
Actors, dancers, musicians, and their creative collaborators often face self-doubt, perfectionism, and the pressures of public scrutiny. Therapy provides a space to process performance anxiety, manage audition stress, navigate relationships on and off the stage, handle rejection with resilience, and strengthen self-esteem and body image.
For those living in the spotlight, therapy can illuminate paths to self-discovery, help distinguish identity from performance, and rekindle joy and freedom in the creative process. It’s not just a tool for healing—it’s a guide for growth, inspiration, and connecting more deeply with your artistry.
I offer a supportive, practical environment to explore these challenges, address mental health concerns, and develop healthier coping strategies. I am particularly attuned to the needs of performing artists and others working in the arts, and I invite you to reach out for a no-obligation consultation.
LGBTQ affirming
I provide LGBTQ-affirming therapy and am particularly attuned to the experiences of gay and bisexual men. My practice embraces diversity and is open to individuals from all walks of life, offering a safe, supportive space for everyone’s therapeutic journey.
“Sessions with Chris have helped me to gain invaluable insights. Your professionalism, patience, expertise and compassion will undoubtedly make you a great and impactful therapist for anyone serious about his/her well-being.”
